New Visions: Law &
Government students ace AP exam
New Visions: Law & Government students
performed exceptionally well on the 2008 Advance Placement (AP) U.S.
Government & Politics examination. While all of the New Visions programs
offer honors and college credit, U.S. Government & Politics is the only AP
course offered through Career & Tech and certified by the College Board,
according to New Visions: Law & Government teacher Richard Bader, Esq.
"Ten New Visions: Law & Government students
took the May 2008 AP U.S. Government & Politics exam," Bader reported, "and
all earned a score of 3 or higher, qualifying for college credit at most
universities and colleges." All of the New Visions: Law & Government
students -100%- have scored 3 or higher in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
The maximum score a student can earn on the
APR exam is 5. Sixty percent of the New Visions: Law & Government class
scored a 5 in 2008, which the College Board classifies as "Extremely well
qualified". This is ten times the rate of candidates taking the test
worldwide: just 52% score "3" or higher on average each year.
"Our New Visions: Law & Government students
perform consistently well above the national and global average on the AP
U.S. Government & Politics exam, an accomplishment indicative of their
future success in college, career and life," said Bader.
New Visions: Law & Government is one of
four New Visions programs that provide honors- and college-level study for
college-bound high school seniors in unique, off-campus classroom locations.
New Visions: Law & Government students meet for class in the State Education
Building across from the New York State Capitol. New Visions: Health Careers
students meet at either Ellis or St. Peter's hospital. The New Visions:
Journalism & Media Studies classroom is located at the Times Union,
and the New Visions: Human Services & Special/Elementary Education classroom
is at the Wildwood School in Schenectady.
Details on all New Visions programs may be
found at the New Visions home
